That Willow Green flared 914 belongs to Greg T. from Tracy. It is a spectacular car he built in his own garage. He is a great guy and obviously very talented. My car was parked a couple of spaces down from Greg's.

Welcome to Carpokes! That is an incredible garage build. I would have assumed it was a resto-house pseudo-Singer special. Super nice job. If you know the owner, get him over here. Would love to do a mini-feature on his car for the site.
Do you have the 914 with the orange DayGlo splitters by chance? If so, we've met.

I will be seeing Greg in about a week or so. I will definitely tell him about this site. The silver '70 with day-glo orange rockers and valances is a real 916, 1 of 11. It was delivered from the factory in that livery. It has been owned by the same family since the mid-70's and just underwent a complete restoration by Patric Motorsports in AZ. They did a great job on the car. Finished it just in time to roll it into a trailer and bring it to Monterey. A rare car with all the history- I knew that was going to get 1st place.
Last year I got fortunate and got 1st place. This year we just enjoyed showing my car and talking to people. My car is not a trailer-queen, we drive it everywhere. It was a 4.5 hour drive to Monterey and a 7 hour drive home.

What's not to love about a 914? Analog and a true roadster. Hard to believe they were the scorn of Porsche's years ago.

Yes!
Google how to buy a 914. Many videos from Auto Atlanta, Ian Karr, etc.

That Willow Green car was built by Greg T. of Tracy, CA. It is an exemplary build in all aspects.

I will speak from the lower end. I have a 74 that I drive daily. The paint is bad, primer spots and loads of “patina”. The interior is good and the original AM/FM dealer installed “stereo” works. Just rebuilt the pedals and shift linkage with new bushings. With about 80 HP, it is a kick in the pants to drive. A fun little go-kart that gets miles of smiles and thumbs up. Less than $8k and a lot of fun for the money.

I've had 7 914's since June of 77'. That first one I drove for over 10 years, some of them with the car in full primer. I remember changing the clutch in the driveway of my mobile home once. Those "lower end" cars get special care each year and suddenly they aren't lower end cars anymore.
My advice is no matter what happens never get rid of it.

Also have a 71 with flares (Fiberglas) needing some TLC. Engine and trans are solid. The wider stance and larger rubber make is hoot as well. Fuel injected and a little more HP than the 74. Lots of fun projects ahead.
