Shop sent me some progress pics while I was away. I'll go visit this week and get more details. I'm amused to see the areas they fully sanded and primed were all the previous areas of repair...

Surprised to see the standard air box/filter, supposedly one of the big benefits of MAF kits is the less restrictive intake. Or is it a California thing?

I have a Vitesse MAF, but have been running it with the airbox and did recently get it smogged. MAFs offer less restriction I'm sure, but the difference is negligible on a typical street car -- at least until you really start making some power. The other/main benefit is its ability to measure more air than the AFM. The AFM reaches it's max measurement of 4.6 volts on a typical 15-16psi street car. Once it reaches the max, you can double the airflow and the DME would never know -- i.e., you get the same fuel at 25psi as you do at 15psi -- with predictable results. Can't remember the specs, but the Vitesse MAF can accurately measure more than twice the AFM.
