My take was that his response was CYA hoping you'd agree so he wouldn't suffer any eBay or other consequences. You kindly let him off the hook which worked out for you. Well done!

Now that's funny -- got bent in shipping!
As long as he's giving you your money back, I guess he can say whatever he wants -- I just wouldn't give him any openings by agreeing it was shipping damage. No need to confront him on it, but no need to agree either. If he's the type to send you that rod, he's the type to weasel out of the refund.
Back on topic, I'd echo the advice to get a used motor in running condition for a fraction of the money and effort....

Very true lol, I’m grateful I didn’t end up losing three hundred bucks on totally worthless parts.Tom wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 6:37 pm Now that's funny -- got bent in shipping!![]()

I did some more research today, looking at prices of used motors and then comparing to my hypothetical cost to build my own motor up, or even buying a whole turbo car and selling my NA would be more worthwhile.
One plus to just leaving mine alone, is I should be able to go to 944 Fest this year. I’ve been wanting to get my car on a track so badly. I haven’t gotten to ever do it before so I’m really looking forward to it. We have a group that does auto cross in Jackson, but as soon as I was ready to try it they ended the season early and they haven’t been able to find a spot to do it since.
