I just did an install on a 992.1 Targa 4S Early May.

SmartTOP works great, very positive experience operating/setting-up unit, quite the challenge to install in the back of a Targa though.

The clearance to get the main bus unplugged from the motor unit was extremely challenging, and only one of the two fastening nuts securing the bus to the chassis was accessible, so I could not loosen the bus to unfasten the connectors.

There are some good pics of curved pliers that provides guidance on how to unlock the bus fastener. I used a curved woodworking tool which managed to unlock the bus, BUT the install was certainly more challenging than I had read about online.

It was very easy on my 991.2 Targa...wish they would not reinventing the wheel! And it was even easier in my 992.1 TTS.
