This week's 'Never Stop Driving' (edition #111) from Larry Webster mentioned the increasing enthusiasm and great crowds at this year's California Monterey Peninsula and also at the Woodward Dream Cruise. Great to see.

This paragraph from his article rang true:

"Everywhere I went on the Monterey Peninsula, I met people who were embracing life and their passions, automotive and otherwise, which was energizing. These days it’s too easy to focus on bad news, thanks largely to social media platforms that specialize in provoking outrage. Around our hobby, though, there’s plenty of joy, as evidenced by this collection of material, produced by Hagerty Media and other outlets. That’s why I’m calling this week’s newsletter The Good Vibes Edition. Have a look, and please share with your friends."

An unrestored 1934 Bugatti Type 59 Sports owned by a European owner from Swizterland was the first preservation-class car to capture the prestigious Best of Show award at the Pebble Beach Concours.

"The owner, Fritz Burkard, drove the Bugatti for hours the days before the concours, enjoying his machine and the invigorating California coastal air."

Well, not never stop but will keep driving as long as I am competent to do so.

My Canadian 992RS has just been unloaded in Rotterdam and will be trucked to my hotel in Munich in a couple of weeks. I will be driving to a Porsche event in Zell am See which will include a brisk drive across the Grosßglockner and some private track time. I will then proceed to the Nürburgring for a few days and do some interesting side trips.

Total trip time will be about a month. I will reach my 76th birthday near the end of the trip.

There are endless positive times to be had without all of the EV worries etc.

And a bump for the first ever Preservation-Class car to capture the prestigious Best of Show award at the Pebble Beach Concours - a 1934 Bugatti Type 59 Sports. Having a Preservation Class car win the top prize is an awesome, overdue achievement. Congrats!

And a bump to Larry Webster's short but fine "Good Vibes Edition" weekly missive in Hagerty Media that informed me of this achievement.

This a a huge change for Pebble Beach and very welcome. The trend to bring cars back to better than new has robbed us of their past .

When you think of great art for instance would you prefer to repaint the Mona Lisa to be just like new?

I love honest cars with their battle scars intact .

This week's 'Never Stop Driving' read from Larry Webster with an insider story new to me: "The Tail of the Dragon Never Gets Old"

Probably not. In fact, as I read the piece today I was thinking that the mysterious "Mr Davis" might be a Gendarme himself. Lol.

Not yet though. Just about to jump into the car for a 200 mile drive and another 200 back o Sunday. That’s why the wheels are round and it square:)
I just drove 2000 mi from CO to FL in 3 days to bring my daughter back to college with a car we bought her. She drove 4 hr of the 13 hr on day 1. I drove most of the next 2 days - she does not like to drive in roads like I-10 with all of the trucks. She drove the last few hr in FL.
Love to drive a car.

For work, I used to go to Molsheim, France a lot and one trip I got to the Chaterhouse museum - Foundation Bugatti. To see the "art" that went into everything that Bugatti did, especially cars like the Type 37A, was really cool. Driving a piece of art and have the machine do it well is priceless, perhaps this is why we drive the cars we do.
