I did look into the trim rings for the 944 dash.
I sell them for 911 and 914. Take a look here
http://carmagic.us/911_dialring.html
They are made of Aluminum, and just click in, no glue or tape needed.
I tried a test set for my 944 I had at that time, but they were to closed together for my taste, so I decided not to add them to my parts I offer.
Here is a picture of them installed in a 944 dash.
Cheers
Engelbert
Engelbert - we can work with that! I see what you mean and they look a little plain as is.
I have some ideas to enhance the look of them. Can you bevel the face of the rings so they have a slight “funnel” shape. See the silver trim of the gauge below - ignore the black other ring, which would not fit for the 944 / 968 gauges.
Also, what about adding hash marks and orange tabs on the rings, like so:

There's not enough room to bevel the face much without eating into the face of the gauge and/or bumping into each other on the outer diameter. The profile in that picture is very similar to the 992 bezel covers I make. I'll play around with some designs -- I have a few ideas to get that look despite the space constraints....
And, p.s., I agree the Carmagic rings look good. I'd offer those for sure...

True Tom - I was referencing the thin silver ring of the gauge I posted above, not the black outer shroud. That silver ring has a very slight bevel. I added that clarification to my post above.

Playing with ideas and came up with a retro-911 look.... Still work in process and I'm planning to join the two big rings. Have a few other ideas to try out, but like the old look myself. Funny thing is, when I do these in white or a bright color, it completely changes the look and feel...

Tom:
These rings look great! I love the height of them and the hash marks and redline extending onto the rings. I found out you can buy metal hour markers that can be placed onto a watch face. That might be a way to spice up these rings.
Could we try spraying the inner side of the rings with a nickel-colored paint to see how they turn out?
Fantastic start - I’m excited by this.

Would some beer money get you to send me a set to try out in my S2? Lol
I need to pull the cluster again and refinish the black bezel.

Yes , but hang on to your money for a bit. I'll be releasing a different version soon, which may really be 'a thing' if I get them right.
