That welded nut is factory. Access is very tight in that area, and you need all the help you can get.

It been years since I had the turbo out, but I do think you are missing the studs on the turbine outlet flange. PET only lists washers and nuts, so maybe my memory is accurate.

Looks normal stock. Put some studs on the turbo and mount it up. Studs for the exhaust inlet on the turbo prob more pain than it's worth.

Stainless or hardened steel for the studs?

Looks like most have used a stainless nut but I am using copper on most exhaust connectors - any reason to not use copper on ALL M6/M8/M10 nuts related to exhaust?

I am ordering through belmetric as most parts suppliers seem to think very dearly of this hardware.

Rennbay has an exhaust hardware kit and if you look at the photo, the majority of the nuts are copper, but I think the bolts are steel:
Rennbay description of the kit:

This kit contains 118 pieces. Hardware is 10.9 grade yellow zinc finish. M8 exhaust nuts are all copper plated 12mm hex split lock. M6 & M10 nuts are yellow zinc deformed thread top lock.

Parts come skin packed to a board as shown so you can quickly find what you need.

Be sure to use anti-seize on the threads, especially the carbon steel items.

944online sells hardware kits as well, including in smaller sets for specific flanges, etc. I personally use 8.8 steel bolts/steel with copper lock nuts on the exhaust. We have a place called Global Metrics (Belmont CA) that has just about anything you could imagine for a German car. It's a hole in the wall with a warehouse in back, run by two ladies and a pack of security dachshunds. They have at least as much as Bel-Metric, but no website. But if you call them or stop by, they are great and know their inventory and metric hardware better than anyone I've ever met.
