The OS Giken order I placed with Racer's Edge now has an ETA of the end of March or early April. Karl said he could get an Elite Racing LSD in about 3 weeks. I don't know anything about them and there is zero I can find except the image Karl has on his website shows it to be very similar in design to the OSG.

Has anyone heard anything good or bad about the Elite LSD? Karl has been using one in his 968 racer.

No idea about the Elite LSD but I suggest you hold out for the OS Giken. You won't be disappointed.

So, I found this interesting video about the inner workings of the OS Giken:

As it turns out, the OSG I ordered from Racer's Edge is ready to ship but I put it on hold until Karl receives the requested literature from Elite Racing. Elite has been in business for 50 years and Karl has been using their LSD for 10 years in his 968, so I think it's worth checking out as both are the same cost.

On a side note, I remember reading your posts on RL when I registered back in 2002, and as a then relatively fresh S2 owner I was very much interested in whatever you could post. It feels strange to me that today I am giving some feedback in return to you, especially on a mod that is not exactly trivial... Just saying :)

Any track experience with the AOR with AOT Final ? My AOR 5th is useless to me on the track and I've been thinking about alternatives. Good sources available for the S2 AOT?

The AOT (S2) ring and pinion is a shorter final drive of 3.875 vs the AOR (Turbo) final drive of 3.375. Basically trading some of the top end for acceleration. The S2 does have a taller 5th gear, so I'll be revving slightly higher on the highway but I think it'll be worth it.
I'm going a different route that should yield comparable results. I'm getting a 968 6MT (G50 Differential), which has the following ratios compared to the standard AOR and AOR with AOT Final:
GearRatios.jpg

The trans I'm getting has the M220 option with Torsen differential, but I'll probably have the Torsen pulled and replaced with a Wavetrac torque-biasing diff (have two of them in my A4, which I like a lot), or bite the bullet on the Guard GT2 Pro G50 ($$$).
I'll be very interested in your thoughts on the 968 MT as I always thought it would be a good way to address initial lag but I seem to recall some possible shifter clearance issue with the fuel tank. And thanks for the link on the OS Giken...interesting and helpful plus a surprising side note is the person explaining the OS is an ex Nissan engineer I knew when we both worked there when they were headquartered in SoCal.......small world

Nope. I've been looking for an entire year. :/
Would take even just an LSD to exchange my open diff for on my AOS box.

I wish I could tell you how the 968 MT trans is but it's still in pieces at Catellus Engineering because there was a major delay in securing the OS Giken LSD, which finally shipped to Kevin this week.

I do not believe there is a shifter linkage clearance issue if you use the stock shifter linkage.

I'm not exactly sure what I will do with this 968 trans once I get it as I may sell the '89 951 (or the S2?) since I just took delivery of a new 2023 Golf R, so one of the cars in the stable probably needs to go.
