996 Seats are pretty much bolt in. I am running 996 GT3 Hardbacks in my 993.

Hi and welcome, I had my seats redone with the same leather used in the original. I was able to purchase the leather from the same manufacturer that supplies Porsche. I had a shop in Hicksville NY do the repair and I am very happy with it.
Yeah, that's another option: to have the driver's seat reupholstered in new leather. (The port side bolsters are worn, like they typically are.) But I won't do that if I'm going to upgrade the whole seat (or both seats).

Cool. Good to know! Thx. OK, so in my searches, I'll add 996's.
Do the electrics work, too (forward/back, up/down, etc)?

A good upholstery shop can perform miracles to your stock seats . I have a 99 996 C4 that I bought 2 years ago . The stock 996 seats are nothing to brag about and I wouldn't consider them an upgrade to what you currently have .
But I found a local shop that was highly recommended and had him rebuild my stock seats . Had added foam to the bolsters and seat bottom . Had lumbar support added . And finally had plaid cloth inserts with black leather on the rest of the seats .
Seats are now super comfortable and hold you very well . And important to me they are still easy to get into and out of . It is not a cheap upgrade but it keeps the car OEM while adding a custom touch . It is an option to consider if you can find a good local shop .

@996C438 -- That would be a great solution, because I have just the 2 problems: predictable wear on the driver's side bolster, and discomfort on long trips due primarily to insufficient padding/support in the seat. A rebuild of the stock seats (like you're describing) would be ideal. I can see that extra padding in the seat. Looks great. Now ... how to find the right guy...?

^^^ Are you a PCA member ? If yes go to a local meeting/event and start asking . Or go to a local cars and coffee and start asking . Any local car event will get you some recommendations on good trusted shops . Ask neighbors . Go to local furniture shops you never know until you ask . Good luck

Yes, I'm a PCA member (Zone 12, Suncoast Florida). But I'm living in Europe right now, and the car's garaged in the USA. (I visit her a few times a year, and my brothers drive her and keep 'er in check.) So that kind of networking and/or "pounding the pavement" just isn't in the cards. It's a perfect time to get the seat(s) done (since I'm away), but just tricky to find the person to do it.

Recaro Pole Position Classics were my choice for my 95 993. I went with Black leather and pepita inserts but plenty of options. Very similar to what folks would have been putting in their 964s and 993's when new. Best investment for the interior and can always switch back to OEM seats if you desire. Astounding how great seats with a lower center of gravity make the car feel more planted and you more connected to the driving experience.

Nicely done - thanks for the info.

Your Recaro seats (and what I can see of your car) look great!
