Hello! I'm new to Carpokes, and this is my first post.

I dearly love my '97 993 cab 6-speed, and I'm doing some long distance driving in it these days. Wonderful! Unfortunately, whether due to the age of the car or the driver, I'm finding the driver's seat to be less-than-ideally comfortable on long trips. And some quick online searches aren't turning-up any alternatives.

I've got what I believe are the standard 8-way electric seats. The car's located in the USA (though I'm in Europe most of the year).

Are there any good aftermarket seats for our 993's? Has anyone replaced the seats? Let me know, OK? TIA.

Hey Cutter, welcome to Carpokes.

For seats in my 993, I was swapped them out for some Recaro pole positions, you can swap the cushions or add padding. The pole positions are basically the same seats that the 993 RS has. It is a fixed back racing shell, so no adjustments other than forward/back.

@toddinmd , Thanks! I will look into that. Did you install the Recaros yourself?

Yes, I installed the seats myself, used bkauto.com brackets along with some Recaro sliders.

Another option on seats is the 996 GT3 buckets, they are like the pole position but the side wings are not as tall. Those seats bolt right.

Here's a pic of the seats installed. Sold the car 10 years ago :(

(yes, I do regret selling.)

In my '96 C4 coupe, I installed seats from a later model Turbo that only had a few thousand miles on it when the seats were removed for upgraded racing seats. These turbo seats have lumbar support that has adjustable height which made all the difference!

For what it's worth I have seats from a 997 in my 964.
I think they are a nice upgrade over the stock seats

Hi and welcome, I had my seats redone with the same leather used in the original. I was able to purchase the leather from the same manufacturer that supplies Porsche. I had a shop in Hicksville NY do the repair and I am very happy with it. So far I have traveled 25000 miles since and couldnt be happier.
