I dug out my old 944 Microfiche slides to see if they give any clues to the original fuel lines in my car. I remember in the past that they have some drawings/part numbers that have long since been replaced in PET. Does anyone have a good home-brew way to read these? I had a big reader back in the day, but it's long gone. I'm hoping to digitize these (assuming they are still readable) but struggling to find a way to do that short of expensive machines or services....

Any chance your local library might still have something to help with this?

The one closest to me does not, but I imagine if I called around long enough I'd find a library with one. That's plan B right now, since I'd love to do a decent job digitizing them somehow. I suppose I could bring a tripod and take pics on my iphone, but there are close to 1000 frames on 10 slides...

How close are you to Santa Clara University? The Law School (Mabie Law Library) had something posted about having a microform and microfiche reader, but it wasn't clear if they are still there and available to the public for use.

Hmmm.....close enough. Good idea. I went to that Law School for my first year, so know it well and probably have access with my bar card. I may give them a call.

(As an aside, I was a student there during the '89 Loma Prieta earthquake, and that library was an utter mess for weeks. Books everywhere, and they all had to go back in exactly the right spot....)
