Driver vs. Passenger door lock functionality... Setting up AutoLoc Keyless System
I'm in the process of setting up an aftermarket (Autolock) keyless entry system. I come to realize that the driver 's-side door has a system to prevent you from locking your keys in the car. This is prohibiting my actuators from working properly. Is there a way to disable or trigger this feature on the driver's door?

I am pretty sure that the mechanism that does that is in the inner latch assembly itself.
If you can figure out how to defeat that mechanism, it should work. It might help to have the passenger side latch and the driver side latch side by side when trying to figure it out.
That said, the easiest thing to do might be to source a left side latch assembly from a RHD car (e.e. UK, etc.) , since that would be the passenger side on those cars, and not subject to the locking restriction.

How is this issue manifesting itself with your autoloc system? I installed a cheap remote for my locks year ago and don't have any issues like that? I wonder if it's related to where you are tapping into the door lock signals?
I'm sure someone in the community has figured this out. I'd prefer not to tear the two apart if I can help it. I really like your UK car idea and will research this further... Great idea!gb951 wrote: Thu Feb 19, 2026 5:46 am I am pretty sure that the mechanism that does that is in the inner latch assembly itself.

My issue isn't electrical, it's mechanical. It's the feature in the 944T that prevents one from locking their keys in the car thats causing the issue. My car never came with the central locking mechanism and so this may be the issue and I'll need to change out the assembly

Ah, that must be it. My car (86 951) came with central locking, so I tapped into that and had no issues.wonder how hard it is to add central locking and/or if the wiring is there just waiting to be used?
