There is a 16 year old kid up the street from me that just got his first car. 2007 Porsche Boxster.
We've been chatting a bit and i've been helping him fix a bunch of things on it.

This past weekend we took the wheels off, cleaned everything up, painted the brake calipers Red with white PORSCHE stickers, painted the factory wheels black, and fixed his convertible top so it's working now. He likes the all black look and was so happy.

The car and calipers look fantastic. Nice to hear of a 16 year old who is into it, and way to go helping him like that. I smell a future Carpokean. :)

Quite a car for a 16 year old!! When I was 16, I saved up $475 to buy an all-primered 6 cylinder firebird, one entire quarter panel of which was made of Bondo. They even tried to recreate the side louvers in the Bondo, which gave that side of the car a cool adobe clay vibe. The three-on-the-tree shifter was replaced with a shifter in the tranny tunnel, complete with a chunk of carpet and tunnel cut away so you could see the road fly by underneath as you drove. Made a great ashtray for clove cigarettes. Sadly no pictures of the car back then. Our portrait camera was always out of flash powder back then. But what a car!

That's awesome. I think a number of us drove POS cars for awhile. My first car was a 2 door 1982 VW Rabbit automatic. That car was literally my way of getting from point A to point B in a not so fun manner.

Tom - i'm trying to get him on Carpokes. His 2007 Boxster is over 100k miles and automatic and they got a pretty good deal on it. There were a number of things not working on it that we've been ironing out.

My first car at 16 yrs old (1976) was a 1959 Volvo PV544 that cost $800. It had wood paneling for door panels and 280 air conditioning (2 windows down, 80 mph). I had to park on a hill everywhere I went to push-start it. There was so much Bondo that you had to try really hard to make a magnet stick on the body.
