Did you order a new neck piece? If so, practice heli-coiling the old one. I'd a near-must skill to master on these cars...

Yes i did order the neck, the middle piece and a new water pipe the neck connects to. I was thinking about doing that. Thanks for all the help!Tom wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 1:16 pm Did you order a new neck piece? If so, practice heli-coiling the old one. I'd a near-must skill to master on these cars...

Finally had time to fit everything.

I prefer time-serts sleeved inserts vs heli-coil. I had a bad thread insert done (previous person) on head stud of my red turbo that pulled out, ended up doing an time-sert and worked great. They have systems that allow you to oversize and fix a previously failed repair too. Did them on messed up water pump threads on the block also....Tom wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 1:16 pm Did you order a new neck piece? If so, practice heli-coiling the old one. For a head stud, I'd use a solid insert too (timesert or case saver). I often give praise to the work-a-day helicoil because they are cheap, easy to get, and better than the original threads in the great majority of applications.AudiSport wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 6:22 amI prefer time-serts sleeved inserts vs heli-coil.
