If my exhaust is hot, it steams and sizzles if I try to hose-wash the car. I assume that's ok, since rain gets in there just the same as washing, but I find it curious and now only wash the car when the motor is cool. Anyone else notice this and/or any insights? My weekend welder instincts say it's not a great idea to quench the hot exhaust like that, but Porsche must think it's fine and/or maybe the water is steaming on heat shields??

I use a coin op high pressure self serve / self wash facility and have done for years, on all my cars without any problems.

Sometimes if the water jet hits the hot muffler there is steam and sizzling - nothing that we wouldn't experience driving in the rain.

I first use the high pressure foam wash then high pressure clean water rinse. For me this is easier than pulling out the hose and washing the cars in my drive and the water gets recycled.

I dry off the car and then apply MEGUIAR'S G7716 Gold Class Carnauba Plus Premium Quick Wax

This stuff is great and inexpensive - easy on easy off !!!!
