GTS 4.0 DIY Engine Air Filter Replacement
I’ve watched videos and am relatively comfortable with the procedure. That said, unless I missed it, I haven’t seen a list of required tools. Does anyone have this info handy? I’d hate to dig in and find out I don’t have a such and such in the correct size.

I did mine a couple weeks ago and short of the torx bit, there is noting special. I used a plastic pry tool to get the side trims off. The ECU is bolted on with 10mm wrench sized bolts, one of them is low and really does require a socket with extension. I used a 1/4' socket wrench but anything would work. The filter housings are held on with a small torx bit, t-20 maybe but I am not sure. I used my torx bit kit. Then there are the two screws that hold each filter to the filter adapters are torx as well.
So in summary a plastic pry tool, 10mm socket wrench with extension and a small torx bit set and you are all good.
Ohh and some towels to clean out all the debris in the intake tube, bugs, rocks, dust etc.

I am getting ready to do my first air filter change on my '22 GTS. I did it on my previous '14 Cayman S, and am not looking forward to it. Remember to acquire "sealing grease" to avoid dirty air coming in around the filter. I still have most of the tube of K&N filter sealing grease that I bought for the previous car. And, you will want to be within reach of a vacuum cleaner to suck all of the garbage out of the chambers.
Thanks for the grease reminder. I have Shin-Etsu silicone grease leftover from my Honda S2000 days that should do the trick.Southbama wrote: Thu Jul 27, 2023 12:39 pm I am getting ready to do my first air filter change on my '22 GTS. Also, the filter housing has 2 "ears" on it to pull the filter out with. Trying to pull the filter out with your hands only is difficult and seems like the ears are trying to cut your fingers off. There is a manufacturer who sells a metal tool for this, but I simply took an old leather belt, run it thru both ears and buckle it. That gives you more leverage and you wont ruin your fingers.

@FLCAYMAN I did the BMC filters. Seemed like I am going to keep this car for a long time and being able to clean them seemed like a good idea. Also driving in the ran, getting the paper filter wet, I don't like that idea.
I used a silicone grease as well for the sealing o-rings on the filter housing.
I did remember one more tip, pre thread the screws into the BMC filters half way but ONLY half way. If you go too far you will split the threaded nub.
