Hi there,
Checking in from San Francisco East Bay with a new to me 84's 944.
Needs some TLC, but overall is in good condition. I will do the maintenance this weekend, starting with all new fluids, filters, brakes, and belts.

Thanks, the color is crystal green; the color was available for y.m. 85-86, but the original owner had its color swapped from the factory zinc metallic.

The car looks great! I really like the wheels and tire set ups too - fantastic eye appeal that seems just right.federicoweber wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 8:46 am Thanks, the color is crystal green; the color was available for y.m. 85-86, but the original owner had its color swapped from the factory zinc metallic.

Very cool picture of a very cool car! Welcome aboard! Lots of 944 knowledge here on Carpokes without some of the noise you can experience elsewhere. Be sure to check the fuel lines under the hood. They are the leading cause of car-death for the 944. When old, they crack and leak onto the hot exhaust with predictable results. Are you doing the timing belt this weekend, or just the accessory belts? Shameless plug: we have a 3D-printable timing belt tensioning tool in the STL section below, along with a balance shaft pin wrench, if helpful.federicoweber wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 8:25 am Hi there,

Doing timing and water pump as well; the last time it was done was in 2017.
The 3D printable tensioning tool is how I discovered the forum

If you are a PCA member, check out Tensions Run High in the May 2018 issue of Panorama. We compared all available timing belt tension tools for the 944 and concluded -- at the time -- that the Arnnworx tool (currently in limbo) was the only tool to accurately replicate the amount of tension measured by the $1,000+ factory 9201 tool. The Krikit was a total bust for several reasons (it doesn't fit in the spot where you're supposed to test among other things...) That was the original impetus behind the 3D printed tool -- i.e., to make something available that faithfully replicates the process and result of the factory tool, but without costing an arm and a leg.federicoweber wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 1:07 pmAh, great to know, I will check those as well, thanks.Tom wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 12:42 pm Very cool picture of a very cool car! The 3D printable tensioning tool is how I discovered the forumI ordered the Krikit gauge, but I rather double-check with the 3d printed tool as well.

Yeah, it's a pity the Arnnworx tool is impossible to source at the moment. I was on the fence about the Krikit, but couldn't really justify the price of the factory tool. Then I discovered the 3D-printed one.
