Got a rebuilt bottom end in this 924S project/flip car I'm doing. I'm going to be starting it in the next week or so.
Any recommendations on a break in procedure and an oil choice (other than normal 20w50 dino VR1)?
Cyl head (and cam) are old, from another motor.
Rebuilt bottom end, break-in oil

I hope this is OK, but from a different forum, starting on post #49, here is what's recommended for the 928. I think it should apply to what you're doing, as well: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/1 ... g-s-4.html

@Tom : I'll tell you what, if you read that thread down below the break-in oil part it really gets to the heart of the Carpokes ethos. There's some long standing grievances that are getting aired (again) in that thread. Whew!

When I was a moderator over there, I stuck mostly to the 944 board. The one time I tried to stop a flame war in the 928 section -- between vendors -- I seriously regretted it. Rough crowd. I did a 000 story on one of the cars @Gregbbrd cares for, and came away thinking he was a straight-shooter and a perfect blend of car guy and tech geek. I lured him over here when we first started up, but we were lacking critical mass. Maybe as we grow, he'll discover the oasis he's been missing, and bring his own crowd to boot.Zirconocene wrote: Wed Aug 24, 2022 1:12 pm @Tom : I'll tell you what, if you read that thread down below the break-in oil part it really gets to the heart of the Carpokes ethos. Brad Penn Break-In Oil.
https://www.amazon.com/Brad-Penn-Oil-00 ... F8IN2?th=1
Nothing better. Use it for 1K miles, then go back to your 20W50 VR1 fossil oil.
