Steering Wheel Airbag Trim Ring interest?

It always bothered me, especially since some newer models come with a Black one, which looks so much better to me. I finally found a new source for these and I am getting several so that others can replace theirs as well. Here are pictures of one I painted Satin Black in my new 718 Spyder and what it looked like painted Miami Blue in my past Miami Blue Targa GTS. These are one time use pieces so once they are removed they need to be replaced. Based on the number I am ordering it appears I can sell them for $40 each shipped to you in the US or Canada; contact me for details:

I'll have to see if my steering wheel is the same. If so, what's involved in replacing the ring and is there much risk of doing damage to the wheel? Do they come painted in Porsche colors or is that part of the DIY? My car is Carrera white, so probably easy enough to match (close enough) with hardware store paint....?

It comes off from the outside of the wheel, no disassembly is required. I am getting replacements since once you remove it there is no way to put it back in so one can paint them black, white, or whatever they wish. When I get them in I will post instructions, etc.

The matching crest on the wheel is a very nice touch!!! Any details on sourcing those?

I assume the Miami Blue one? If so it is impossible to get these anymore since the seller does not do them, but there are some sellers on ebay that make custom crests you can message and ask.

That looks great! I'm sure I'm the last one to the party but finally realized something -- the 718 interior looks like the same basic style from the (my) 991, not the 992. Makes sense now that I think about it, but it explains why the sports chronos bezel is different. My steering wheel also already has a flat black ring in on the steering wheel, although just like the bezel, it's more of a flat chamfer than a rounded profile like yours. I guess it's a style thing....

You are correct Tom, different trim...Porsche copied my idea for the airbag trim ring in Black! However, the first one I did was actually Miami Blue on my Targa GTS!
