Hi Tom,
Currently racing in Champ Car. (https://champcar.org/web/). I really enjoy comradery of racing as a team, switching drivers and keeping the car going for 16 to 20 hours on a week end

Welcome! Seeing as I am completely unfamiliar with what you're allowed to do for endurance racing, what is all done to the car?Rebel Jas wrote: Thu Aug 11, 2022 5:49 am Hi Tom,

Hi Darwin,
Car mods for endurance racing depend on the competition rules for the series. Depending on the series, the competition rules can be less or more complex. For ChampCar, it is pretty straight forward. There are all the safety modifications you HAVE TO make (Cage, seat, harness, fire suppression system, etc.) and then there are the modifications you want to make. (Performance, handling, areo, cooling, etc.) In Champ, The cars get classified based on a vehicle performance index. then, based on the performance, handling and areo mods you put on the car, they translates to points that can bump up a class level. I focus a lot on modifications that reduce weight, increase airflow for cooling, and anything that adds to longevity.
