Hi all,

Recently I saw an ad for a pr of 16x8 Fuchs wheels on craigslist. The price was very attractive so I gave the guy a call. He said, "I think they will fit your car, but drive it over just in case and we'll pull a wheel off and put one of these on and see for sure."

I want to find 8x16s for the rear and 7x16s for the front to keep the staggered look of my 1986 Turbo.

So I drove over to the guys place and we popped one of the rear wheels off my car and put one of his wheels on and it rubbed on the caliper. :(

Does anyone know if there is a 16x8 Fuchs wheel out there that will indeed fit the rear of a 1986 944 Turbo?

Thanks - Paul

'86 cars with the Fuchs wheels option had 7x16 and 8x16, 23.3mm offset Fuchs wheels from the factory.
What was the offset on the wheel you tried?

If you check the 16" wheels on the Fuchs website at https://www.fuchsfelgeusa.com/16-inch-s ... ackoptions you'll see the 16x7 is listed with ET23.3 and the 16x8 is ET10.6. However, the PET does show both front and rear as ET23.3, so the wheels you looked at should have fit if they were as claimed.

You need 951 stamped Fuchs to fit a 86/951. They are the second rarest variety of 'common' Fuchs (i.e. not like Carrera RSR Fuchs), 16x9 were the rarest, from 930 Turbos.

On another note, I have some BBS RS 16x8/9 for sale, I'll be at 944fest. I have a for sale ad with some pics in another part of the forum if you're interested.

Reviving this thread...

So my current phone dials are 23.3 mm offset all the way around. Would that mean for the rear I could get the Fuchs 10.6 mm offset and put 12.7 mm spacers in - as long as the tires don't rub on the wheel well? Or am I missing something?

12.7 mm doesn't seem like just too much - basically a 1/2".

No, spacers make the offset less, not more. You would end up with -2.1 offset.

To answer your question, the 951 part number rear fuchs are 23.3 mm offset as stated above and are 16x8. That’s what I am running on my 951.

I hear that they are quite rare. One of my cars came with them originally but now has the phone dials on it. I really like the look of those staggered Fuchs on the 944 Turbo. Unfortunately I'm not very hopeful on getting it back to having those wheels again. I did a search on Google for them and found a set on ebay that had sold for about $1600 (16x7's and 16x8's - all 23.3 offset). I doubt a deal like that will surface again for a very long time...
