I just browsed the thread about a Chris Cervelli and 3.0L engines. Not sure how early this was.
However when I bought my first 86 turbo in 1993 I visited MCL Porsche in Vancouver British Columbia Canada…..not Washington.
The head mechanic there John was working on a 3.0L car they built for a customer. It was repainted yellow and a pretty cool car. According to John my car was particularly fast with the Alan Johnson racing chip they put in but this 3.0L they built was destroying every other Porsche that came through the Porsche dealership shop. This was built 1993-1994.
Fun fact

It would be interesting to hear what happened to this car and who has it and what shape it's in.
