I ended up with 2 cupholders from Kaizen Lighting for my 718 GTS 4.0, I've installed one and will sell the other for $75 shipped. It is brand new in the box, including a link for instructions to install. Installation is easy, pop out a few pieces, slide it in where your ashtray or coin tray was, and pop the pieces back in place. It isn't an exact match finish-wise for the console, but pretty darn close, and hard to tell unless you look hard. It is very similar to the cupholder in the newer 911's, but it won't fit a big gulp or similar cup, just normal size Coke cans and the like. You can check it out at Kaizenlighting.com, costs $90 plus shipping.

When a drink is in the holder, does it interfere with accessing the shift knob? I guess you lose the 12 volt socket?

Can't lie to you, yes it does. I guess PDK owners have an advantage here. I just raise my elbow to ship when I have a bottle of water in mine. The same design is in the 911 with the factory cupholder, so I guess manual 911 owners have this problem too. There's really not much of a way around this I don't think.
