FWIW In the past five days (06/06/2022) I’ve had personal experience with two Scan tools on my 2021 C2S. The two San Tools I had in my hands and connected to my 992 are the 2022 iCarSoft and the Autel MP808 Scan Tools. The 2022 iCarSoft tool does NOT work on my 992 series Porsche. The Autel MP808 tool DOES work on my 992. While not all bidirectional functions are available, resetting the maintenance and oil change monitors IS available and they work.

Thank you, awesome to know.

Great info, thanks! On the iCarSoft, do you know which model you used? POR V3.0? I've used the POR V2.0 with success on a 981 (and a friend used it on a 718), but the 992 is not listed on it. ICarSoft has abysmal documentation, so I can't tell if they claim the V3.0 is supposed to work on the 992. The poor documentation is not confidence inspiring, so great to hear about the Autel unit -- you get what you pay for I guess....

Hey Tom, I got the POR V3.0 from an approved iCarSoft vendor and I updated it completely before attempting to use it. The menu (after updating) in the POR V3.0 does not list a 992. I did try to tell the scanner that it was attached to a 991, but the data streams must be significantly different. Very little data was displayed and what was displayed was definitely not what it was identified by the scanner as being.

Well, that's that then. Thanks.

From the irony department, I'll leave you with this paragraph, which is part of iCarSoft's "Quality Policy"...

"iCarsoft sets up the market oriented policy for Customer first, service guaranteed, iCarsoft brand enhanced. Basing on the service theory of iCarsoft service is right beside you, relying on strong R&D ability; we launch the service of daily breaking through and weekly improving. Our headquarter will offer pre-sale, sale and after-sale service together with technical support centre worldwide and distributors using advanced internet technology."

Oh boy . . . . Well . . . . The good news is that the Autel MP808 does clear the Maintenance and Oil Change Reminders.
.
BUT it unfortunately has a number of other issues, due to which, I must rescind my implicit recommendation of yesterday:
1.) The use of some “Active” (bidirectional) functions particularly pertaining to the PCM must leave little bread crumbs behind that disable the PCM entirely or disable some functions Ex: Volume control, station selection, Car Play Launch Control, etc. Restoring the PCM is a rather circuitous and time intensive process, to say the least.
2.) Many bidirectional functions do not exist or do not work at all or the scan tool reports that the VIN Number is not accurate. FWIW the Scan Tool reads the VIN and it is correctly being read when compared with the actual VIN for the car.
3.) Some of the select-able “Buttons” when navigating their menu driven system are occasionally in German. IMHO, in the scheme of things, I don’t find this to be a major fault.
4.) The Scan Tool had a “Button” to “Delete Data”. Which should clear existing records of accumulated history. Ex: How many times a switch has been closed or opened. I never did find anything this “Button” would actually do.
5.) Etc.
.
Finally I spoke with Autel Technical Assistance. They were very pleasant and were able to retrieve the various screen captures and data logs of the above and other items. However, they are relatively clueless and offered “maybe” a beta software version. So in a nutshell the software clearly isn’t ready for prime time just yet.

Good luck finding the right tool for the 992. I recently purchased a Icarsoft POR V2.0 to reset the oil on my 991 and it was a breeze. No bi-directional stuff though. Just for basic maintenance reset kind of things.
