I've never been crazy about the idea of a short shifter. I'm hoping this will restore the feel to how it's supposed to be.
I couldn't believe it when I saw this though - it came with a printed catalog! When was the last time you saw one of these?

Seriously though these guys (www.partworks.de) have been great and I would definitely recommend them.

Reminded me of something, I think some cars actually had factory short shifters, supposedly the AOR trans equipped Turbos. Both my 944's, my original first car (an 89na) and my current one (the 91S2 coupe) both have great condition factory shifters.
Interested about the shifter parts, as in the ones that go on the trans. I know some of my customers don't want a short shifter. I normally use only944's linkage and the shifter (up front), but the shifter assembly only comes as a short throw.

Hmm AOR trans means the Turbo S LSD right? If so then I have that one ('89 951). I don't think it's a short shifter, but then I haven't actually driven another 944.
When I was first looking for one, I found a really nice 924S in my area, which was the only thing remotely like a 944 I could find near me at the time. So I went and had a look. One thing that stood out to me was the amazing shifter feel. It practically pulled itself into gear. My car has never been quite like that but I'm hoping this will get me closer. But I don't remember the throws being any longer in that car than mine. Mine certainly has much longer throws than any modern car.

It was "hocus pocus." My '89 Turbo shifter is stock and it's the same as my S2 when it was stock. Last year I installed the Only944 short shifter in the S2 and like it much better than stock. I'm also planning to install one in the 951.

Interesting. I have recently seen one shifter that was different looking than the ones I've pulled before. Maybe it was some old shifter somebody mistook for OEM.
I will put a short shifter in the street-track project I'm planning on late this year/early next year. I think my S2 will stay stock just cause it's a lazy car.
