Well as I posted over in the Macan forum, I now own a modern Porsche for the first time. I had assumed that I would get Durametric for stuff like checking error codes, resetting service lights etc. But now that I look at the site, apparently they don't support anything after 2015.

What does everyone use for later cars? Generic OBDII reader? I don't even have one (never owned any car this new before). Is there any one in particular people recommend?

Crazy Eddie and I used the iCarSoft POR v2.0 tool. It will read codes, but importantly, it will also reset the service light so you can change your oil without dealer intervention. It worked on Ed's 2016 GT4, and from memory covered all Porsches from that era. It was also by far the cheapest of the oil light reset tools we could find, at around $150 if memory serves. The documentation is abysmal, but you can see our step-by-step guide to using it in the last section of the GT4 oils change guide here:

Thanks! I saw that one recommended on another forum too. I'll grab one of those.

Has anyone manage to use it to register a new battery? I noticed that my battery is showing around 12 - 12.1v with the car off so I think it might be on the way out. The start/stop feature is not working and I think this might be the reason.

Hmmm... that is low... I have not used it myself to register a new battery, but it does have that function -- see the BMS (battery management service) screen in the pic below. If you don't use a dealer battery, you have to fudge the serial number, etc. Going through the screen shots, I also found one that confirms it has the Macan listed....

Just a quick word of warning for anyone else looking at one of these. I went on Amazon and looked for this, and found this https://www.amazon.com/iCarsoft-Porsche ... C93&sr=8-5:

Now, obviously "II" means "2" which is the same thing as "2.0" right? Well not according to iCarsoft. It turns out that the POR II is a completely different, older product, which costs the same but only does a fraction of the stuff. It doesn't have the battery registration feature and I'm not sure what else it doesn't have. I ended up buying the 2.0 and I'm returning the II but I just wanted to warn people about this.

The version Ed and I used -- 'V2.0 for Porsche" -- worked on his 981, but their product line-up and documentation is a mess. There are 7 versions of this thing listed on their website, and three different version 2's -- the two you listed, plus another one called the P700 V2.0 for Porsche. It looks identical and costs the same, and I spend 20 minutes trying to figure out how it is different but gave up. :wtf:
