They had a cover article in Excellence magazine (Aug., 2022). I would order one. Base = $161,100 w/ options $180,160. IMO, it may be the best Porsche made.

I've tried twice at both local Porsche dealers near me to order one with no luck. I've bought 3 new cars from each one (which probably worked against me?).

Anyway, maybe I'll have better luck in the future? I'll move on to my next opportunity.

I understand some serial buyers have established a practice of letting their dealer consign or buy back the car after a year or so, never for more than msrp, which puts them high on the allocation list....

It's a secret code here, but the guys that get the better allocations have purchased ~$1M+ in cars from the same dealership. They are free to resell it to another buyer if they like. Some do trade it back due to the 7.5% ad valorem tax (one time tax on buying any car--less trade-in).

One good thing is that they never charge over MSRP. I have always received a discount, but those where all before the supply shortages. My current car is MRSP when Porsche places the sticker on it (i.e., I wouldn't be surprised if MSRP goes up on all new cars soon).

I received this via RL, and the guy makes a great point.
As I write this, I find myself feeling a way that I never thought I would about Porsche. I have Porsche special edition fatigue. The company recently revealed the new 992 Sport Classic. The rear-wheel-drive, slightly detuned turbo, manual transmission car that many have been hoping for. It looks great, and I am sure is a brilliant drive. But I am actually growing tired of hearing about yet another special Porsche that no one will be able to get. Correction, collectors who will never actually drive the car will be able to get it. There are rumors about other special edition cars coming from Porsche soon as well. A 911 ST, a Safari 911 and even a 2.7 RS Anniversary car is possible. If they materialize, they will undoubtedly be fantastic.......

My sales guy was saying nearly the same thing. But he was saying the regular cars are harder to sell (normally, not now) because all the special editions get all the hype and press, so people feel like the cars they can actually get are a lesser compromise car. The special editions can be very cool, so I wouldn't want them to stop making them, it's just that the distribution of them is starting to feel a bit Ferrari-like. And, while we're on the topic, I wonder how long the 918 buyers will continue to get their special status. It's going on 8 model-years old... Had Porsche said that car was going to be the Golden Ticket for the next decade or more, I bet more of us would have bought one -- even if we can't fit in the seats. ;)

Tom,
I agree. Any Porsche is now available at over MSRP.

I am a SEC RIA dude that will never go over MSRP. I know how prices can change in a hurry as the Fed increases interests' rates while lowering liquidity: It always filters down to Porsche prices.

JMO, of course, but I think the market will eventually come back to my price levels?

I saw this 2018 GT3 car on an auction platform. It looks super sharp:
