After 3 years of procrastination, I finally disabled the Soundaktor.
I went with the Fuse Pull method as I do not have access to a bi-directional scanner (such as Launch x431).
I should have done it sooner, the improvement is very very noticeable.
Defeating the Soundaktor eliminates what Porsche calls “Optimised engine sound in the passenger compartment”.
For me it was unhelpful noise.
The sound is added in Sport and Sport Plus.

Process Summary:

1. Remove Fuse Cover on the rear passenger side (LHD Cars), watch for the little cones that like to fall off.

2. Find the 7.5 Amp Fuse in Slot 10, and remove it.

3. I followed an example from another forum and taped a baggie containing the fuse, inside the fuse cover.

4. Reinstall the fuse cover after testing.

On my 991, there was a tube that carried engine noise into the cabin. Is the 718 version purely electric? I sold the 991 before I ever got around to it, but it was also unwanted noise to me -- made the car drone in the cabin when the pse flaps were open...

How would you describe the difference in interior sound after pulling the fuse, both with flaps open and closed?

When the 718 was introduced it had this:

That was the style of Soundaktor that was found in VW and Audi cars.

2019 - 2025 models had a newer design, which is a speaker and tube design apparently less harsh than the older design as it does not vibrate the firewall the way the older design does.

Newer Design:

The fuse pull works with either as it kills power to the Control Unit.

These are nothing like the Sound Symposer used on some of the Flat 6 cars, both 718 and 911.

@Larry C

Hi Larry, it’s early but the general sound pressure level comes down when in Sport or Sport Plus.
I don’t have to run the Bermester as high to listen to music.

Sounds now have a clearer source location as opposed to just being enveloped by noise.
When I have the flaps open my brain more easily can understand it as more exhaust sound, not just more noise.
