Here's a photo of the 6 Porsches that participated in SIR SCCA Autocross on July 12, 2026. My 914 is on the right. The next AutoX is July 26 at the Mid America Air Center in Lawrenceville, IL.

I took turns switching my RX7 for the 914 of a great friend when I first started autocrossing and I still have a soft spot for the mid engined sleeper. I guess owning a Cayman now shows I still have a soft spot for Porsches with engines just behind my head, ha. Looks like a good group and are you guys running with a local SCCA Region by chance?

Yes, this is the SCCA Southern Indiana Region. Most of the Porsche owners at this region's events are Southern Indiana PCA members. Unfortunately, the Southern Indiana Region PCA does not have an Autocross program.

On a tight autocross course, I imagine the 914 holds up pretty well against the big modern Porsches, yes?

The courses here are usually fairly fast. The 914 doesn't come close to the very good Autocrossers in our club with the Caymans. We're (there's 2 of us running 914s) usually 4 to 6 seconds slower, which is an eternity. Part of that may be my abilities as a driver too!
