wire routing—oil pressure and level

Trying to work out where to route the wires across the front of the engine to the oil pressure and level senders.
It looks as if they go over the top of the water pump then down in front of the inlet and back to the senders. Is that right please? The other way would be across the top of the water pump then behind the inlet but the wires feel as if they want to go in front.
I thought I took plenty of photos of how things looked but missed this one. Thank you.

Thanks Tom. From that picture it looks as if you took the wires behind the pump inlet?

Though this picture has it going under the thermostat housing:

Another example with the wire behind the thermostat housing:

Balance of opinion appears to be behind the thermostat housing:

Thanks for finding all those images!
Behind it will be. It does make slightly more sense, as it will be more out in the air rather than pushed against the thermostat housing.
Last night I had a look at Jürgen's (irina25661) video of replacing the water pump on a 944 S2. Before the wire was in front and after the new pump was on it was behind.
