I’m once again kicking around the idea of a 992.2 — just trying to figure out if it’s worth it.

I had the same question when I went from the 991.2 to the 992.1 — was it really a meaningful step forward? In hindsight, I’d say it was, but not overwhelmingly so. My worry is the 992.1 to 992.2 change would be even less noticeable... ?

For those who’ve experienced the 992.2 — does it actually feel like a meaningful step forward vs the 992.1, or more of a mid-run marketing refresh? I’m thinking if I went GTS or Turbo S the engine alone would make it feel quite different …

All had performance increases. The .2 S has the hp of the .1 GTS, for instance, so step-ups for some models. Plenty of refreshes but largely the same cars as the 992.1 versions. Everything gets shuffled, options upgraded or changed - those sorts of things. The big change is the T-Hybrid drive trains for the GTS and the Turbo S models as well as their altered looks, especially the front vertical grill slats. Teeth!! Lol.

My neighbor just swapped out a .1 GTS with 7M for a .2 GTS with PDK. I'll get his take and try to get him to join CP.

Had a chat with my neighbor about Tom's query on 992.1 vs 992.2. My neighbor swapped out a 2024 GTS 7M for a 2026 GTS Targa PDK. He said that, while he's enjoying the additional 50 - 60 hp in the .2, his primary reason for the swap was to land the Targa top. He said he would not have pursued a .2 otherwise. Hope that helps!

Not sure this moves the needle much in mind -- kind of what I assumed -- but probably nudges me closer in that direction...

Uh, under 9 secs. though the quarter, I need a lottery ticket win and I would be all in the minute that windfall comes through, ha! Since that is unlikely, I will just spend your money and tell you to go get one!

My ever-growing list of life 'commandments' includes "Never wander through the new-car showroom". If I sit in a new Porsche, my wallet bites a chunk of butt flesh to remind me. K reminds me we can easily go buy whatever I want, yet that life commandment will never be unlearned.

Of course it doesn't help that the market values of the halo cars continue to increase after purchase.

I can relate Dr. Bob, and even though I am just a Part Time Service Driver helping my son at Porsche Des Moines, I do find the tug at my wallet when something new or used comes in that hits ye olde auto adrenaline button. I am glad I have two really fun toys in my garage as the tug can get really powerful at times, ha!!

I think Warren Buffett is a helpful case study. Probably human nature for people to long for things they can't afford -- 'if only I had the money, I'd buy a [car, yacht, house, jet, island]... some day....' Then as those things become more attainable, their allure starts to wear off a bit and you just stick with what you have in Omaha. On the other hand, I know a guy who buys a dozen Porsches a year -- mostly GT3s. What he does with them all before selling them back to the dealer is a mystery to me. I think the value is in the hunt for him -- spec'ing it just so, getting cxx and pts options, etc. Better than killing tigers in Africa anyway....

I'm surprised that your transition from 991.2 to 992.1 was that noticeable?

I think the Porsche upgrade philosophy is the following:
- [old gen].2 to [new gen].1, Same Engine. New Body and Interior Tech.
- [new gen].1 to [new gen].2, New Engine. Basically the same body and tech (minor updates to both).

An upgrade from [old gen].1 to [new gen].2 would be the biggest bang for the buck. You'd get everything new: engine, body, and tech.
