I recently changed the email address for our (randomly) periodic newsletter and, in the process, discovered that quite a few people were hitting reply and commenting in one way or another. Those emails unfortunately go to a special-purpose mailbox that I generally don't see.

So... I thought I'd start this thread as an official place to comment on the newsletters. I amuse myself writing them, but once I send them I have very little idea how they land. If so compelled, let me know here.

I got your newsletter , I laughed, I chortled , I guffawed , and a tear came to my eye ( left one if I remember ). Keep sending to my email as I just happen to thoroughly enjoy your rare ( as opposed to medium rare ) humor and I often find there is something extra I missed and your stimulus directs me to another jewel of Porsche prose!

To prove I read your emails, I'm commenting on the one today (04-20-2026). I'm right there with you on the sheet metal screws, only problem is lots of Porsche dealers still don't ask, they have the lowest paid tech intern do the honors of putting those screws into your bumper cover(s) and mount one of their own license plate frames with their advertising panel inside it. You gotta be proactive with your healthcare, same for your precious P-car. Thanks again for coming up with a sensible solution to the egregious act of vandalism. My last 718 left my possession with the no-drill plate mount and I hope the new owner appreciates your handiwork.

I too enjoy your newsletter humor. And I was a nano-second away from hitting reply to tell you how I too made similar 3rd grade declarations! (Sadly, that's almost true!)

And I'm also struck by your comment of spending 60 hours a week on the plate mounts! I hope that's not true. If it is, you need to apply for an appearance on Shark Tank.

License plates on the back of the car are expected everywhere in the world. If only they pre-drilled holes to attach a bracket. Actually, Porsche should get on the bandwagon and sell your no-drill mounts to dealerships! Why couldn't that happen?

It's the FRONT of the car that irks me. Governments should get into the 21st century and allow the adoption of alternatives--vinyl stickers might be an option.

Moved from Nebraska last August to Iowa and I do so agree with Mikster. Nebraska allows folks with sports cars, collectible vehicles , etc. to purchase a decal for the front of the car whereas Iowa requires a metal plate. I am waiting for my first ticket as I am not drilling holes in my Cayman's front bumper. Nebraska took a smart pill since not only do they make folks like me happy , they pocket additional money I was more than willing to pay. I am hoping in the near future Iowa follows suit as the funds generated could be used for highway and bridge repairs so badly needed here. I have three vehicles I don't have plates on , and would gladly pay to avoid getting ticketed.

When do you foresee expanding your license plate mount line to the front of our cars?

+1 nomination for the Pulitzer.

I refuse to drill into the front bumper covers of my Porsches. One would think a world class car engineering company that sells 86,000 vehicles in North America per year, could come up with a more elegant solution.

I just go without the front plate in Virginia. Last time I was ticketed was 2008 and it cost me $80. I can do that every twenty years or so.
