Geezerhood and your car

I've been going through old guys issues for the past month. Late last week I was able to start walking slowly around the neighborhood and this week going to a small restaurant with the granddaughters. Getting in and out of my cars, seeing which one is less pinchy and awkward, and going for a short drive, reminds me that being able to drive is freedom. This freedom is the same as I experienced when I drove off for thew first time by myself in high school. The same desire for freedom that made my dad sneak out of assisted living and drive his Buick for one last time. I am determined to be at Amelia Island in a couple of weeks. That Sunday, I'm supposed to be in the Cars and Community. So I still have some work to do.

Well said. Banish those "old guys issues"!

Hope you continue doing better - day-by-day improvements are key.

Reminding us to enjoy to a larger degree all these pleasures that we take for granted.
Thank you for the heads-up !
Getting snug behind the steering wheel of one of your beasts will ... "keep the doctor away"!

Hang in there. I've had a back flare up for the last 6 weeks, finally getting better (knock on wood) with a great physical therapist, but your story hits home for sure. Make the most of the good days and push for a Toradol shot on the bad ones. Fingers crossed you make it to Amelia Island! :shifty:
