Many years ago (15 or more) a couple of friends had a water injection system they used for a time on their Turbo S cars on track at DEs. Don't know if it helped but it was interesting to see them pull into the paddock with many cases of the anti-freeze they used loaded in their tow vehicle trucks.

I ran water injection in my 944 Turbo for years. I mostly used Boost Juice by Snow Performance, which was 51% water and 49% methanol. It definitely allowed for higher boost and timing levels without knock, but the delivery system was crude, and the boost juice made everything downstream pink. Think moonshiner engineering. ;) I pulled it all out a few years ago as part of my 951 austerity program. :) If Porsche adds it to a factory car, I'm sure it will offer a much more sophisticated system. It's one more fluid to keep filled, but it could move the needle for sure. Nice to see them developing ideas for real engines too. :)
