If you want a spare key for your 2016 Cayenne, is there any option other than the dealer? They are looking at close to $1K for a replacement/programmed key.

I was in the same boat... twice.

Bought our 2011 Cayenne S used in 2018 and it came with just one fob, and no metal key :wtf: Went to the local dealer and paid about 800 all-in for fob/metal key/programming back in 2018.

My wife lost her key (thankfully the 14 year old, beat-up original) last year and we got the $1000+ quote. YIKES!! I did some online searching and found a local-ish (45 minute drive) automotive locksmith here in SoCal that advertised Porsche keys AND programming. I gave it a shot, and for $500 I am very pleased. Works like the original. Fob/key/programming took about 1/2 hour at his shop. When he pulled out the bin of new fobs (non-Porsche OEM) it was empty, but he had a couple of used OEM fobs that he offered for the same price. I took one of the used OEM fobs with a new metal key that he cut, and I am super happy with the results.

I'm not sure where you're located, but you might want to look for automotive-specific locksmiths, and inquire about 958 Cayenne fobs and programming to make sure they know what they're doing.

Good luck!
