Scanned Rocker Trim

Finally starting to get up to speed on scanning 3D parts. It's pretty crazy how accurate the scanned part is -- makes me wish my original was in better shape, because the scanner picks up every scrape and bruise. :wtf: Feels like we're living in the Jetsons era, where you can just hit go and make an exact duplicate of a part like this...

Tom,

You and I spoke about this a while back. I have a brand new 1 (right side) I can send you if you think it will give you a more accurate scan.

That would be great actually! My original one is in ok shape, but I suspect it is slightly warped. Will send you a PM...

Very nice. I presume the new part is in a harder material and isn't "flexible" like the original one?

Yeah, it's wild how it copies every single flaw. You can clean up the scan data before you print to smooth all that stuff out.

Does anyone have pictures -- or could someone take pictures -- of this piece installed on their car. I'm curious to see how it goes on to the mounting tabs and how it interacts with the wheel liner in front. I made a pretty good scan/print of the new one that @Fejjj951 supplied, but am having a hard time getting it to fit. So I tried the new/original part and it is equally difficult to fit. Makes me wonder if my body panels or mounting points are tweaked. I did see a bit of overspray on my originals and see that someone cut off the front section that slides up into the wheel well -- making me suspect some body shop couldn't get it on as intended either.... Pics would really help...

I would help but my cars are in storage for the winter.

Tom,
I have a new left side trim I could loan you to do a scan, if you need it. Let me know.
