Will installing Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (non N rated) void your warranty, My local Discount Tire shop has a special pricing but they are not N rated. I asked my local Pcar dealership they are very vague on this issue.

I'm just an owner like most of the rest of us here so take what I say with a grain of salt, but that's an emphatic no! on voiding your warranty. You might end up owning a chunk of Porsche if they tried that.

Having said that, if you put on an entirely wrong size or did something really crazy such as oversized knobby off-road truck tires and wheels for instance, then you likely would have warranty and a whole lot of other issues.

What is most bothersome to me is that someone at the dealership was vague in answering your easy-to-answer question. Probably they were just trying to get you to buy your tires at the dealership - nothing wrong with that per se, but a simple question needs to be answered directly. Who at the shop was vague?

Have you considered asking them to match Discount Tire's price? They might do that for you to keep your business, even for non N-rated tires and/or get you a great price on the N-rated versions. (The dealership likely gets their tires from Discount Tire anyway.)

By the way, I would recommend N-rated if you can swing a deal that is satisfactory to you. The tires are built especially for the car.

Most Dealerships ( regardless of Automotive Manufacturer ) will not replace tires on their performance models with tires below their recommended speed rating. Folks also have found Dealers will not patch or plug speed rated tires and both of these situations are due to litigation.
We, as Porsche owners, also note that some tire Manufacturers even make tires ( same tire model ) specific to our model's chassis specifics and this joint effort is for ride , handling , speed , etc. and is an interesting dynamic done with various high performance machines.
I guess my feeling has always been why would one want to buy a tire that offers less speed performance than recommended anyway, just to save a small amount, when safety and more could be affected?
Lastly I think we have to realize Dealerships ( not just Porsche ) are paying a certified Tech to take care of your car's wheels when mounting tires , so they are likely to be more careful . There are always exceptions, but one has to realize you are paying someone to work on your expensive vehicle so many want the extra care. All said, Dealerships will sometimes offer specials on tires and the price can often be the same or even less -- again discussing many Manufacturers but no harm asking questions.

I haven't had any warranty issues. Last year I had to get a pair of Falken tires fitted after a pothole on the BRPW killed one. Dealer didn't say anything during a service. The dealer will match Tire Rack prices, but the labor is very high. My indie recommended a shop that I have been using for a long time and does excellent work. With the GTS 4.0, I have been partial to the N spec Pilot Sport 4 s tires.

my two cents.

Thanks to all. After contacting Discount Tire Sercice / Tech line I found they have N spec Pilot Sport 4 s tires.
Looks as if my local Discount store manager did not investigate the N rating.
