Oil Level - Finally Found Info

I finally found the display for the oil level in my 911.

To display the oil level use the rotating the thumb wheel on the right side of the steering wheel to display the temp screen then depress the thumb wheel and scroll & select oil level measurement.

Engine should be at operating temp to accurately measure oil level.

You can see my level indicates max.

I'm at just under 400 miles since taking delivery.

BTW I always select SPORT mode :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

When my dealer tech was having trouble hooking up the factory laptop to check the oil level after changing it, he pulled this up on the dash and said it wasn't the best for changing oil because it takes a while to register properly, etc., and is best to check several times over a week or so, rather than right after an oil change. Not that you're changing your oil, but it seemed relevant. 8-)

Are you planning to change that oil as part of break-in? At the risk of repeating myself, when mine was changed at 1k miles, the tech pulled open the filter and showed me all the sliver glitter inside -- making me feel pretty good about the $200 or whatever they charged me to do it...

Not sure if all 992's are the same, but Sport Mode is a must on the Turbo S for just about everything other than long steady cruising on the highway. I'm sure "regular" mode was programmed to optimize MPG and smog, etc., but half the time it just feels mean to lug the motor so much in regular mode...

Takes some getting used to - no dipstick :lol:

I have a BMW 135i which has just an oil level electronic display so I was already familiar with the concept.

Now just need to regularly monitor :D

Porsche has been no dipstick since 2005 so I have become pretty familiar with it.
Finding it within the menus is another issue!

Sport mode is definitely the way to go. My car is a PDK, so my default is Sport mode and then Manual shifting each an every time I get in the car.

Nice work, thanks for posting. Keep in mind this is for the non-Turbo (capital T) cars. For my Turbo S, the difference between the min and max is just one quart per the manual. We recently changed @Crazy Eddie's oil and if memory serves the difference on his 981 was 1.8 liters. Just like Porsche to make it a little different on all cars. On the other hand, it's kind of a sun dial, so not sure the variations translate into any actionable information. Check level, if low add about a third of a quart, check again after it settles in, repeat ad nauseam.... :wtf: :shock: :? :shifty: :problem: :crazy:

I wonder if the lack of dipstick was a cost-savings thing, or part of the effort to block all top-side access to the motor, or just Porsche wanting to be modern and high tech, or maybe an emissions thing? Sure seems like an elegant solution in desperate search of a problem, but at least it's not a wifi-enabled wine bottle...
