I got my 968 all back together after replacing the cam chain, tensioner pads and timing/balance shaft belts. I took it for 2-20 mile drives today. On the first drive, the CEL came on for 2-3 miles, went off, came back on for another minute and then went off and stayed off for all the other driving I did today. I also changed 3 of 4 spark plugs (dropped one and did not trust it so installed one old one) but got a new plug today and installed it after work. Not sure if the CEL light is related to changing the cam chain/pads or what? Have not had any CELs since owning (February of this year, 1,500 miles).
Not having any experience with the 968 engine management system, should I be overly concerned? Except for the CEL, it runs great, maybe slightly better than prior to the cam work. I am going to take it on a trip tomorrow to the North Carolina hills to participate in the Wilderness Trail Region DrachenFest V this weekend.
Thanks,
Lee
P.S. Ask me how many times I reset the timing belt before I was able to get the marks to line up

Have you tried checking for the fault code number using this method?
