I’m adding oil pressure and temp sensors to connect to my MaxxECU. I have a Wizard radiator with integrated oil cooler, which means I have 12 AN size hose and fittings from my oil cooler housing to the oil cooler.

I have the option to add a sandwich plate under the oil filter. But I wonder if that is not the best place because of the heat off the exhaust manifold. So I’m wondering if I use 12 AN fitting with built in 1/8 NPT thread for the sensors, would need 2. I would place these between the current AN fittings on the oil cooler (on the bottom of radiator).

Am I overthinking the sandwich plate? If I I use the AN fitting adapters, should I place the temp sensor before or after the oil cooler? Would I get a good oil pressure reading by the oil cooler?

You’re not overthinking the sandwich plate, placing it near the exhaust manifold could expose sensors to excessive heat, risking inaccurate readings or damage. Using 12 AN fittings with built-in 1/8 NPT threads between the oil cooler housing and cooler is a solid alternative.
For the temp sensor, place it before the oil cooler to measure oil temp before cooling, giving you a true engine oil temp. For oil pressure, placing the sensor after the cooler should still provide a reliable reading, as pressure remains consistent across the system unless there’s a significant restriction. Just ensure proper sealing and secure mounting to avoid leaks.

Skip the sandwich plate if heat’s a concern. The AN fittings with 1/8 NPT at the oil cooler are a cleaner solution. Put the temp sensor before the cooler hot side for accurate oil temp readings. Pressure sensor location here should still give a good reading since it’s post-pump. Works fine in my setup.

I’ve ordered the sensors and the 12AN fittings.

Also looking to add a fuel pressure sensor but can’t seem to figure out what adapter or fitting I need. Will keep researching but if anyone can point me in the right direction would be appreciated.

I just removed the stock oil pressure sensor and replaced it with a 10bar Syltech sensor. You can then use outputs from the ECU for the gauge and light on the dash.

For fuel pressure I replaced my regulator with and adjustable after market unit with sensor ports.

Great tip for the fuel sensor. Did a quick search and see a few options. Can you point me to what you used. Thanks.

I don't have a stuck fuel rail, so I have a radium engineering FPR mounted direct to my rail.

I think Adapt Motorsport may have something that will work with the stock rail.

Actually found this. Real easy way to add fuel pressure sensor to stock setup for standalone. Just bolts on to end fuel rail.

Now I'm really wondering who 944m3 is as I know almost all people with a MaxxECU on their 944!

@Bergerac ; outputting data from the ecu to run the oil pressure sensor isn't as easy as you think.

I now have the function working for the boost gauge but may @Tom has already figured this out too!

For the Fuel pressure sensor; any 0-10 bar is fine, the Bosch Multi sensors are best in my opinion as you can read all the data right away.

The Bosch multi sensor is also easiest for the oil, but they only come in M10x1 instead of 1/8NPT.
That being said; running a M10x1 tap through the 1/8NPT hole will clear them up nicely and you need to use threadsealant like Loctite 577 anyway.

I purchased Honeywell sensors as I read a few folks had experienced failures with the Bosch multi sensors. Of course this was on the “internet” so who knows, but thought not risk it.

@BasHenneman i will definitely take you up on your offer and ask questions lol So far I’m leaning on my own, which I enjoy. And I’m loving the MaxxECU. I will post my tune later today on my other thread. Would love to get input. I’m sure it can be improved on. Car does feel good though.
