Broken Parking Brake - Can't Remove Rotor

I replaced my entire braking system, that included the parking brake shoes on both rear wheels. I did tighten them so I only had to pull the parking brake halfway up, it only took 2 clicks to engage fully. I used it a few times and when I was driving home from the shop Wednesday, I heard a couple of tings like I ran over something. I don't know if it was something on the road or something that came off my car. When I got home, the parking brake did absolutely nothing, it pulled all the way up and had no effect on the car rolling away.

Today I pulled off the driver side rotor and everything appears normal except it doesn't react in any way when I pull the parking brake. On the passenger side I can't get the rotor off, it's stuck on there somehow. Is the shoe pressing against the inside of it?

I checked the parking brake cable and it appears to still be attached under the carpet and pulls when I pull up on the brake.

The rear rotor has a couple of tapped holes (M8 - 1.25 IIRC) into which you can run bolts and use them to apply pressure to the wheel hub.

They are not stuck, just hit them with your purse a little harder.

BTW. the correct adjustment is full braking with three clicks on the handbrake lever.

Oh you were right, it popped off.
New problem, I've discovered why the brake is not working. This fell out and I can't quite figure out how it's supposed to go in there, am I missing a piece?

Not sure what process you're using to add photos but the best and most reliable way is as follows in Tom's guide. Try that if you're not already doing it.
viewtopic.php?t=410

Also, what image file type (extension) is failing to load?

Oh I got it, I posted it above. I was initially submitting before the file finished uploading, I'm not used to posting on a forum from my phone.

Good to hear - glad you figured it out. Thanks for letting us know!

For a variety of reasons, doing this sort of stuff from a phone is often a bit trickier than with a PC.

Am I still able to get help with my parking brake?
