While working on the car this weekend, I noticed three bolts extending near the rear bumper on the passenger side:

Inside the passenger side rear cubby, there is this plate that connects to the bolts:

I put a few nuts on the bolts to keep the plate from coming loses and rattling as there originally were not any nuts on th bolts.

Anyone have any idea what this bracket/bots are for?

I could be wrong, but I suspect that's the bracket/bolts used by the factory to tie the car down during shipping. The actual hooks were supposed to be removed when they got to port, but you still see a few 944's with the tie-down hooks. There are a number of aftermarket hooks available for that location, to add towing and tie-down options, like this one:

Like I said, I could be wrong, but that's my guess based on the pictures...
