Sport Response Button

Does anyone know what the Sport Response Button, in the center of the driving mode selector, actually does? When it’s pushed the car has 20 seconds of increased power. I’ve been unable to find any information regarding what the actual changes are. Does it increase torque and horsepower more than the stated maximum or is it just 20 seconds of Sport Plus?

It introduces a shot of nitrous
I could be wrong but, believe it is the same as Sport Plus. Just a quick way to activate for a short burst rather than turning the dial.

Are you saying that our beloved Porsches are getting gimmicky?

It does make me feel like James Bond for 20 seconds

You got me hunting around and reading, and the descriptions are all over the map, with the specific details of what is activated and affected by the button probably a bit different from model to model. It looks like Porsche's official position is that the button makes the car amorphously goodly and fastly, but without a lot of specifics. The one thing I could not find was anything written by Porsche that says horsepower actually goes up over the rated numbers, just a lot of talk about maximizing and optimizing acceleration and responsiveness, etc. On some of the older turbo cars, they talk about temporary increases in boost, but they no longer say that. In fact, the 991 Turbo literature specifically says you can press the button as often as you want. So, in short, good question.
p.s., I know at least on my car, the button does not replicate sport plus mode fully. Sport Plus deploys active aerodynamics on my car, but the button does not.

FWIW, just saw this comment on BAT for a 997 turbo auction.

The Sport Response Button on the NA 992 GT3 does not function as a Sport Response Button. Instead, it provides access to a display Menu / Settings option which makes perfect sense as it does not have any turbos. The question in my mind is whether the SRB provides the same "overboost" and/or shift pattern as the Sport Plus mode or whether it provides even more "overboost" and/or more aggressive shift pattern? Do you think that the EPA mpg ratings could be the reason why Porsche does not provide the technical details / "overboost" for the SRB? I imagine that all EPA mpg ratings are stated for the Normal driving mode?

The 718 GTS 4.0 has a NA engine but the SR button still serves as an increased performance button.

That's interesting and confusing. There doesn't appear to be any consistency between models.

Wow. That is a nice feature unlike the SR button in my car that seems to be another way of going into Sports Plus mode for 20 sec - gimmicky.
