Mechanically restored, highly original 944 Turbo.
My neighbor garage parked it in 1998 due to a coolant leak. Life, kids, career and ultimately cancer prevented him from getting it back on the road. I purchased it from his widow and began an in-depth mechanical restoration.
-Overhauled fuel system: gas tank cleaned and flushed, new pump, filter, lines, injectors tested and cleaned.
-Overhauled cooling system: new radiator, water pump, all hoses replaced.
-Overhauled brakes: replaced master cylinder, brake lines, rotors, rebuilt Brembo calipers.
-Transaxle, torque tube and bell-housing removed for inspection. I found a manufacturer date sticker on the clutch from 1996, so I estimate less than 3000 miles on clutch, pressure plate and flywheel. Installed new rear main seal, pilot bearing, pressure plate bolts, and slave cylinder.
-All new vacuum/boost hoses and diverter valve. Venturi’s deleted to match 1988 and later vacuum system. Turbo makes strong boost.
-New battery and main cables to engine ground and starter. New starter.
-All new belts including timing and balance shaft belts. New cam, crank, and balance shaft bushings, seals, rollers and tensioners. New Cam Tower Gaskets.
-New oil pan gasket, exhaust studs and nuts, intake bolts, and new intake and exhaust gaskets.
-Powder-coated the original phone dial wheels and new Toyo tires.
-Overhauled and converted AC system to 134. Still blowing cold air on Freon charge from August.
-Accu-form dash cover.
-New hood and hatch struts.
Over $6000 in parts receipts. Only remaining issue is reupholstering the front sets. I’ll probably do this in April unless already sold.
$24,500 OBO.
