Hi everyone,

Just creating this topic in case anyone has any interest or questions about sim racing.
I race with the Porsche Club of America and they have different class racing for all experience levels.
They also have team racing and free training. Check out pcasimracing.com
There's no cost to join but you have to be a PCA member.

There are also lots of other opportunities to sim race if you're not a member of the PCA.

You can start with a simple wheel and pedal setup such as a Logitech G920 (costs about $400 - what I started with 2 years ago and it goes up from there).
I'll be happy to share my experiences from when I started to now and answer any questions anyone may have.

I just completed the Daytona 24 hour race in iRacing with a team of 5 people which was great fun.
Interestingly out of the 5 drivers in our team the fastest driver uses a single screen with a Logitech G920 so having better equipment doesn't mean you're going to be the fastest out there.

I race in VR so I use just one screen on the PC. Some people who don't use VR may have 3 or more screens.

Wow, that's wild. Didn't even know this was a thing. Do you have any video of this in action -- or links to video? Does it feel more like racing or more like Grand Theft Auto?

I don't have any videos of using my rig but I'll put something together soon.

It's totally a simulation and not a game. All the tracks are laser measured and you have pretty much all the setup changes you would have in real life.

Here's a link to an introduction video that James Huth put together. He's a PCA driving instructor (has a nice 930 turbo too) and he also runs eDE sessions, like the HPDE sessions that the PCA runs but in the simulator. He's a very fast and smooth driver in the PRO class in PCA Sim Racing.


When I started there were 4 classes of drivers in PCA Sim Racing, Challenge, Sport, Club and Pro. I believe there's a beginners class currently until you join some driving instruction and get classified.
I moved up to Club after the first year and narrowly missed out on promotion to Pro in the past series but I'm hopeful that I can get promoted next series.

The best of the PRO class in PCA Sim Racing will take on the best drivers from the Porsche Carrera Cup Series North America. It'll be interesting to see how the sim racers do against drivers that drive in the Carrera Cup series in real life.
