Glow fuses

One of the nice things about being retired from my day job is having the time to spend all afternoon working to get a glove box light to work, even though I'll never use it. But hey, it 'should' work, so it must be fixed, right? Anyway, while trying to connect the impossibly short wires to my newly repaired glove box light, I hit metal with the 12v wire and blew the fuse. Rummaging around the garage, the only replacement I could find were a pack of "smart glow fuses" that were given to me as a gift sometime during the Reagan administration (which I had dismissed as a novelty). So I put one in and, of course, promptly blew the new fuse fussing with the glove box. Check it out -- can use guess which one is blown? I'm now thinking these are pretty cool!

Seems like I recall that one of the companies making upgraded fuseboxes for air-cooled 911s had that function built into the fuse block. I seem to think the company was in the UK. Seemed like a nice upgrade to me. Then I sold my air-cooled 911 before I got around to buying one...

That is a cool novelty turned into a really hand device.
