The next odometer gear project for Tom

Paging @Tom , I took apart my '86 951 cluster to check why the odometer wasn't working----I had replaced the usual gear with an Odometer Gears version about a dozen years ago, and had a new one from Tom on hand just in case.
What I found was the gear adjacent to the usual suspect had two broken teeth, which explains why every now and then it would jostle into life and count about 0.7 miles before stopping again.
Has anyone ever seen this? I might have a spare 944 cluster somewhere to pillage parts from, but sadly out of time before this weekend's road rally in far Northern CA.

That did happen to someone else here last year. Same gear. I just looked and do have a spare in an old speedometer. Priority mail would get it to you Thursday or Friday, or overnight could get it to you Thursday for sure. That gear has been on my list to model and print. My plan was to make a universal gear set so you wouldn't have to worry about how many teeth or on your odometer gear. Not 100% sure that's doable, but thought worth a try. Let me know if you want to try hustling this one down to you. I've never seen that gear sold separately anywhere....

There are different versions. A 48 tooth and 49 tooth version.

I need to do that again - have the gear - just need the time to do it again. Thanks for the great picture. Chuck

Tom,
You sent one to me. I can send it back because I am still looking for a replacement speedometer because my gauge broke when I was trying to take it apart to fix the broken gear.

If you find a replacement speedometer, I might be willing to buy your broken one for parts. (I can also rebuild your broken speedometer, if you are interested...)
PM me for details...

I have a spare spedometer if anyone is needing parts. Someone already has the face and needle but everything else should be there.
