Hi.

I am getting a new harness for the starter/alternator for my 968 Turbo S replica and I wonder how it was routed on the 951:s

Advise and maybe even pics please?

I installed iceshark cables before the advent of the iPhone, but remember taking pictures of the original routing with my "digital" camera at the time. (Anyone remember the Mavica?). I'm looking for those picture, and 'should' have them somewhere. Give me a day or two to hunt for them. I do remember there is a cushion clamp on the bellhousing that confounded me....

I'm not 100% certain, but I thought the 968s had a different (longer?) routing on their cables. Not sure if Porsche would have regressed with regard to the 968 Turbos or not. I bought new cables from Porsche a year ago, and they had a good bit extra, so I'm guessing cable PNs have been reduced to one.
1984 VW Rabbit Pick-up - Not stock
1988 944 Turbo S - Really not stock (Chris White special)
2012 VW Tiguan - Kinda stock
2013 Cayenne Base - 6 Speed! Tastefully modified, mostly stock

Yes you could be right, I am not sure either. I have received the new 951 harness from Porsche now so when I make the change I can compare.

Tom did you find any pics of the stock 951 alternator harness routing?

When I installed mine, I had at least 12 inches of extra harness. I ended up securing it behind the alternator/AC Compressor.

I have not been able to find my pictures from back in the day. If memory serves, my Mavica used a 3.5" floppy disk.... I'll keep poking around, and will ping @Crazy Eddie too. He had a ton of pictures from his bling-work, and he's pretty focused/obsessed on keeping things original where he can.

I found these two pictures doing a quick google search. Maybe they can help some? I know the first one is an NA, but I don't really remember being much different on my car when I removed my original ones.

I’m on a plane right now …
I’ll see what I can find on my laptop when I get home 👍
