Yesterday ( Saturday 8/24 ) the Great Plains Region of the PCA held its 3rd DE of the Season and I was lucky to get Joe Greenley of Urbandale, Iowa for my student. As a brand new PCA member and first time Porsche owner, Joe jumped right on to use his new 944 the way it was intended. I was blown away by his car as it was almost flawless ( original paint, no cracks the dash, A/C worked, and I did not see a single door ding ) other than a little tear on the passenger seat. He seemed really interested when I told him about the various options for seat coverings were available with " Crazy Eddie!"

Here are a couple of shots of Joe and Joe's 944 at speed.

PS - Great student, he was able to hit his lines after only a session and I actually released him to run on his own later in the day as he was doing so well.

Hi Bill, thanks for the introduction. Looking forward to learning from this group :) I have a few tire questions I want to ask, I'll start a post on that.

Welcome and I noticed there are a couple of threads on shocks and suspension on here that will help quite a bit so you make the right choices --- shocks can be tricky on 944s.

I look forward to seeing you at the next Great Plains Region PCA event in October and I know we will both enjoy the cooler weather.

Welcome aboard Joe! I love it when members recruit other members to our little corner of the Internet! Nice looking car -- we're big 944 fans here on Carpokes. :)

Back in 1982 at the Laguna Seca historic races, Porsche flew over their brand new 944 along with one of their factory drivers to pilot it. He gave hot laps to anyone with the nerve to get in the car. Back in those days, the look of the car was part exotic and part hot rod, with those huge bulging fenders front and back. The world has gotten used to the look of the 944, and plenty of other manufactures followed suit with increasingly outrageous cars, but back in 1982, just before they were released to the public, the look of a Guards Red 944 was jaw-dropping to me. And in the hands of that factory driver, that car was crazy fast around the track compared to just about any of its contemporaries. Track guys like to say the best upgrade is simply getting better at driving. That factory driver really drove that home for me -- I bet his lap time in that bone stock 944 was better than anything I could do today in my 992...

But I digress... Welcome aboard Joe, and special thanks to @WillyDaP for spreading the Carpokes spirit.
