I never thought I'd want a set of them, but the Merrell low cut hiking shoes that I wear daily with a lug bottom are causing me grief (the sole is catching on the edge of the pedal the odd time) when I am going between the brake and gas pedals back and forth in a hurry in a slalom for example.
So I am looking for a flat bottom shoe that fits a wider foot for comfort. FYI: When I order Asolo hiking boots, I always order a 12 Wide for a perfect fit. A brand name and model name of what you use.
Thanks!

Call me crazy, but check out the extra-wide Sketchers Go-Walk shoes. They have perma-tied laces and you just slip into them like loafers, but they grab your foot like a real shoe and quickly became my favorite walking shoe. And they are about a third of the price of the New Balance shoes that they replaced...911-Purist wrote: Tue Aug 13, 2024 5:54 pm I never thought I'd want a set of them, but the Merrell low cut hiking shoes that I wear daily with a lug bottom are causing me grief (the sole is catching on the edge of the pedal the odd time) when I am going between the brake and gas pedals back and forth in a hurry in a slalom for example.

Ahhh, interesting you should ask! We had a brief thread discussing this very thing last Fall where different ideas and experiences were shared. The thread was about shoes that would fit for different uses besides just driving - casual, etc. The shoes were good-looking, not so dorky as pure race shoes often look. You can find the thread here:

If you need FIA certified track shoes, there are many that are very lightweight and comfortable. I have both Alpinestars and Sabelt shoes - both are excellent. However, they aren't much good for walking around. Also, most FIA-style shoes are narrow in their standard form but I'm sure they offer wider sizes.

The laced Go Walk that I just looked at are pretty nice. So the laces are fake? Are they like these that I found at Amazon?
They are supposedly extremely lightweight and comfortable. I like that idea!

I was thinking more like the PUMA Speedcat OG shoes with a rounded heel and completely flat and thin sole. Unfortunately they are sold out everywhere plus I have no idea how they would fit width-wise.

Those aren't the same as mine. I'll snap a pic in the morning. Mine have lace the tie up, but they are made to be left tied. They look like shoes with regular laces, but they slip on.blueline wrote: Tue Aug 13, 2024 6:52 pm @Tom
